Subject: Air Malta cancellation of Paris Orly service 01st January

On 31st December 2022, Air Malta flight KM377 operating from Berlin to Malta experienced a bird strike resulting in the aircraft turning around and returning to land safely in Berlin. The passengers were re-accommodated back to Malta on 01st January whilst the affected aircraft remains grounded in Berlin for technical repair.

This event and the resultant aircraft shortage has caused significant disruption cascading into the planned flight operations for 01st January. Air Malta tried to source a replacement aircraft through multiple organisations and channels, but no available aircraft were found at such short notice during this incredibly busy period of the year.

This disruption regretfully resulted in the cancellation of one flight, the KM466/467 Malta – Paris Orly – Malta on the evening of 01st January. Customers have been provided with hotel accommodation in both Malta and Paris and replacement flights will now take place on the evening of Tuesday 03 January.

Air Malta wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused through this disruption at this very busy time of year. Safety is always placed as Air Malta’s top priority and the airline is taking all steps possible to recover the cancelled flights as soon as possible.
