Jazz is one of life's greatest gifts: fun found within surprise.

 
Delighting music aficionados for years, the Malta Jazz Festival has been bringing together sterling performances by top international and Maltese artists performing a wide range of jazz styles.

Held annually over three days in July, world famous artistes that have performed in the past include John Scofield, Al Di Meola, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Betty Carter, and Joe Zawinul amongst many others.  With the majestic Grand Harbour as a backdrop, the festival offers a most magical and awe-inspiring experience to the attendees.

For almost 25 years, the Malta Jazz Festival has been bringing over some of the most promising and important jazz acts to date.

The 23rd edition of the Malta Jazz Festival is this year (2013) being held at Ta’ Liesse between July 18 and 20.  This year will see live performances from Grammy award winner Robert Glasper Expermiment, Grammy award nominee Gerald Clayton with his trio, Gregory Porter, acclaimed pianist and composer Gregory Porter, composer-pianist Vijay Iyer, Gilad Hekselman and local musicians Charles ‘City’ Gatt, Walter Vella Quartet and Cusp.

This year will also see the Malta Summer Jazz Camp feature some of the most significant musicians in the jazz scene to this date.  These workshops are open to everyone and are free of charge. This year’s Jazz Camp are Rino Cirinna on saxophone, Claudio Angeleri on piano/jazz theory, Romain Pilon on guitar, Matyas Szandai on bass/rhythm section and Karl Jannuska on drums/rhythm section.
