Malta for teens

There is never a dull moment when in Malta. If there is one thing that the Maltese are renowned for is their lively entertainment scene.

You heard it here first, Malta is for teens too! Embrace your youth and experience the island life. By the tender age of 17, most Maltese teenagers would have already found their way to their first nightclub. So it comes as no surprise that many tourists visit Malta in troves to hit  Paceville, a quaint village that is renowned for its nightlife. Expect lots of bars, pubs, restaurants, a bowling alley, cinema and a whole lot more all within easy reach of the beach.

If Paceville is not quite your scene, try Mellieha where you will still get a wide array of water sport options. Some hotels in the area even offer their own sailing school where you will be able to learn how to sail and windsurf.  There is also the opportunity to go on a sausage ride pulled by a speedboat.  The nearby villages of Qawra and St Paul’s Bay also house many hotels with sports facilities including tennis as well as a cinema and several bars with live bands.

During the summer months, Malta gives non-Paceville goers several more options other than during the winter. If you love reggae, techno, rock or even electronic music, there are venues that will make it happen. Expect bars to open at 9 p.m. and closing very early in the morning circa 4 a.m.

If on the other hand you prefer a quieter and relaxing time, the island of Gozo can provide you with just that. Relax by the pool at a rented farmhouse, scuba-dive, snorkel or jet-ski, while you are visiting the island.

With a myriad of options of how a teenager can spend his time at Malta, rest assured that no place is too far away and most local teenagers travel around on bus. Whatever your idea of fun is, make sure you plan ahead so you will be able to fit in everything on your schedule.
