MOSTA DOME
So much has been written about it but you really have to go and see it. Marvel at the miracle of the unexploded bomb, the beautiful painted ceiling and its, sheer engineering feat. Worth the trip to the centre of the islands. An absolute must-see.
GĦARUSA GARDENS
While Mosta is renowned for its grand Mosta Dome, also known as the Bażilika, venture off the beaten path and discover the tranquility of Ġnien L-Għarusa, or Għarusa Gardens. This serene garden provides a peaceful escape from the bustling crowds. Take a leisurely stroll under the shade of the trees and immerse yourself in the breathtaking views. It's the perfect spot to relax and recharge, away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Search out for the food truck offering a range of delectable dishes accompanied by a spectacular panorama. While it does not serve traditional Maltese cuisine, it has gained popularity nonetheless. Indulge in smoked meats prepared in various mouthwatering styles or choose to savour in the vegetarian options if you’d prefer.
AMPHITHEATRE
In the heart of the Ġnien l-Għarusa Gardens you’ll find an amphitheatre where various performances take place throughout the year from Shakespeare, to comedy, and to music. It’s also a great place to just take in the view.
VICTORIA LINES
The Victoria Lines stretch 12 km from the east to the west of the island, passing from Madliena and through the limits of Mosta on their way before ending in Rabat. These linear fortifications are an example of military architecture that are enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.
FORT MOSTA
Among the Victoria Lines is Fort Mosta, a polygonal fort which was built between 1878 and the 1880s by the British. Today, it is used by The Armed Forces of Malta as an ammunition depot.

From early morning fireworks to vibrant street decorations, the festa offers a spectacle of colours and sounds. Immerse yourself in the joyous atmosphere as the streets come alive with music, dance, and local traditions. The main event takes place on the 15th of August, but the streets are adorned with decorations for much of the month, creating a festive ambiance throughout Mosta. |

The highlight of the Santa Marija Festa is the grand procession that winds its way through the streets of Mosta on the main day of the feast. The statue of the Assumption of Mary is carried in a splendid procession, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of marching bands. The procession features religious fraternities, parishioners in traditional attire, and a lively atmosphere filled with music and applause.
And then of course there are the fireworks… - these play a significant role in every festa with each town competing to be the best. Mosta is certainly in the top ranks, and is renowned for its spectacular displays, illuminating the night sky with mesmerising and carefully choreographed pyrotechnic shows.
In addition to the religious processions, you can enjoy cultural performances and entertainment during the feast. Traditional Maltese music and dancing take centre stage, providing visitors with a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the island.
