The azure crystal water at Hondoq ir-Rummien surrounded by natural caves provides the perfect opportunity for a swim with a scenic view.

On the southern coast of Gozo, lies a quaint pebbly beach known as Hondoq ir-Rummien. Beautifully embellished with an azure colour and crystal clear waters, the Gozitans love venturing to this favourite spot below the village of Qala.

Making it an ultimate spot for snorkeling due to the surrounding coastline and a number of small caves, the beach turns into a family area by night, perfect for enjoying a barbeque. With striking views of Comino and the adjacent coast dotted with traditional salt pans, the bay is one of very few remaining tracts of open countryside left in the Maltese Islands. The surrounding area is picturesque with many rare wild plants.

The sea in this area is one of the cleanest around the islands attracting divers to visit the underwater life. The small caves at water level make this cove a particularly popular spot for snorkeling and diving.

One particular attraction for this bay is the view of Comino Island and the Blue Lagoon when you are driving down towards the bay.

There is also a small kiosk, which sells snacks and drinks as well as renting out sunbeds and umbrellas.
