Like in many of Europe’s grandest destinations, the inhabitants of Malta live and breathe their country’s rich history.

The Maltese history dates back to about 7,000 years. Despite it's relatively small size, the island has a rich and varied past. While museums house the finest examples of historically significant artifacts, one need only walk the streets to experience this Island nation’s past.

  • Walk along any street in the historic towns of Valletta, Birgu, Bormla, or Isla, and the architectural heritage of the Knights of St John is omnipresent and still in use.
  • Visit one of the many village festas and while celebrating with the locals, you’ll be taking part in traditions dating back centuries.
  • Stroll along the seafront in the villages of Marsaxlokk and Mgarr in Gozo, amongst the fishermen repairing their nets, and witness an aspect of village life that has remained relatively unchanged for millennia.
